CU Buffs in Action is a chapter affiliated with Engineers in Action, an NGO focused on aiding developing communities through infrastructure projects and offering university students opportunities abroad for engineering experience. Our parent organization has involved over 1,000 students from 41 universities, constructing 100 footbridges in 12 countries. These bridges have connected nearly 150,000 previously isolated individuals to essential resources such as education, healthcare, and markets.
Our Buffs in Action projects give us hands-on learning in bridge construction, engineering techniques, design, fundraising, marketing, and leadership, fostering a professional repertoire and personal growth through immersive experiences abroad.
Throughout the school year, we organize various social events to cultivate a sense of community and teamwork among our members. We engage in activities like the National Bridge Builder Conference, media production, grant writing, and fundraising. We believe that long-term project involvement greatly benefits students, enhancing their cultural awareness and offering valuable travel experiences during our summer abroad programs. Your support allows more students to participate in these opportunities!
______________
Last year, the majority of our funding came from crowdfunding, but this year we are aiming to expand our fundraising efforts. In February, we will host our second “Bridges and Brews” fundraiser since COVID. Bridges and Brews is a silent auction designed to engage CU alumni and encourage former club members to seek both monetary and in-kind donations from their employers. Our first event last year was a great success, and this year our team is committed to making it even better. Planning is already underway, with a focus on securing more auction items and increasing attendance. In addition to the event, we will continue our community crowdfunding efforts, working closely with our recruitment team to maximize outreach and donor participation.
