Serving the University of Colorado Boulder, our team is committed to creating an encouraging, inclusive community for individuals to learn how to Nordic (cross country) ski and reach their athletic potential as recreational or competitive skiers. Our athletes consistently describe our club as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity filled with friendship and pride through learning a new sport and representing CU Boulder in collegiate Nordic skiing across the nation.
One of our most important goals is to make Nordic skiing as accessible as possible to encourage new skiers and keep the sport financially feasible for those who already love it. Your support goes directly towards funding day trips, overnight trips, and race weekends, which includes but is not limited to ski rentals, trail passes, lodging, registration, and transportation. Here is a breakdown of how your donation impacts our club:
- $50 - Covers the cost of one person on an overnight trip
- $100 - Provides lodging, food, and transportation for one member to race in the Rocky Mountain conference of USCSA
- $200 - Allows us to purchase a tent so that our athletes can stay warm on a snowy race day
- Over $250 - Lets us provide an unforgettable experience to one racer at USCSA Nationals in Lake Placid this year!
This year we are specifically fundraising to bring on a wax technician for some of our races. This will enable our athletes to focus on the race and not worry about waxing! Because of our desire to keep the sport financially accessible, the funds required to support our endeavors and members is crucial to our success and ensures access for current and future CU Boulder students. Since financial accessibility is a cornerstone to our club, we stretch every dollar, reuse as much gear as we can, drive instead of fly, cook our own meals, and keep our race season affordable so more students can be a part of this sport.
But this year has been tough with travel and lodging costs steadily climbing, increasing gear prices, and skies, poles, boots, wax, tuning supplies, and race suits all adding to it.
